Interior design styles and tips for dealing with the Covid 19 emergency during the fall

During the pandemic from COVID, all sorts of new challenges have emerged and needs have changed dramatically over the past year. With children learning remotely from home and many people smartworking, the need is to create functional spaces easily and economically.Maintaining peace within the home at a time when shared spaces are being used more than ever, and homeschooling shapes our workday, is one of the main needs that have arisen from the pandemic.

1) Finding space where it doesn’t exist

Now more than ever, it’s important to analyze every corner of the home to determine what works and what doesn’t to save space. With multiple family members (or roommates) using shared spaces, these rooms can quickly become flooded with personal items, school and work tools, toys, clothes, projects and fall into general clutter. Well-compartmentalized organizers and closets are a great place to start. Consider installing sliding closet doors to replace front-opening hinged doors to save more space and modernize the look of your home. Labeled baskets can keep individual personal items in order and are easy to find. The use of sliding doors can also help find space where it is taken up by the opening radius of classic hinged doors, and thus create available volume that can be filled with organizers in order to keep the common space decluttered, organized and convenient for everyone.

2) Respect personal space

Most parents still work from home, which means that their daily distractions and lack of personal space to focus on work have worsened significantly. This can be remedied by rethinking some of the spaces and dividing them up so that there is privacy between them, but without breaking the bond between them altogether. In fact, through the use of a sliding glass door, we can allow light to flow and leave the balance between the two spaces intact.

3) Maintain a healthy balance between work and home life

Most parents are forgetting to take care of their mental and physical health as they try to keep it all together during the COVID crisis. Because of smartworking, it can be difficult to create a balance between home, work and health. To find the inner inspiration to relax, we can incorporate a calming color palette into the home, keeping it consistent with the wall paint, fabrics, and furniture in each room. This will help keep the interior calm and un-chaotic. Also consider using plants and increasing the amount of light available in the home. Mirrors are great light reflectors and can be strategically placed in darker spaces to bounce light back into the room. Especially now as we head into the colder months and shorter days, being stuck indoors can become depressing. Plants are perfect for releasing oxygen, restoring the tranquility of an indoor environment, and providing the indoor/outdoor experience we naturally desire.
